gianfranco
galizio
born in piedmont
in 1949, he likes to define himself as a "painter of calmness".
his scenes are painted through the lens of foggy
northern
italy
; yet there is always light, drawing into the
suspense of what may happen next. His paintings are empty of people,
but the viewer does not feel alone nor lost: “others” are always
present and may emerge from the mist at any time.
before settling into the recent metropolitan landscapes (the
“anonimi percorsi” series), galizio has experimented with
several different techniques and styles.
he has exhibited for many years all over italy
and abroad. his work began to gain recognition in the 1970s and over
the years it has become part of many private collections,
particularly in italy
,
switzerland
and the
uk.
